Choose a Right College

The college search does not have to start and end with the name brand universities. There are numerous colleges to opt for — some known and less known, but all worthy of special attention.
You should examine yourself and the reasons for attending college before starting your search. Why are you going? What do you wish from life — something material or intangible? What are your strengths and abilities as well as weaknesses?
Are you self-sufficient or need warm and familial assistance? You should talk with your family, high-school counselors and friends and ask these questions. These people can help you with these vital issues.
Your university does not need to be larger than the high school. Many good liberal arts colleges own a population of 4,000 students; university is a time to examine, and a smaller group is more favorable to internal research. It is not the amount of students, but the students themselves and the type of community in that you will study that really matters. Most big universities have set “honors colleges” in the bigger university for the same reasons.
A name-brand university will not assure your success. Consider the persons in your life that are successful and happy and and get to know where they went to university. Ask this about “famous” people. And you will find that life success has much less to do with the selection of university than with the opportunities and experiences encountered when in school, coupled with individual traits and qualities.
